“Wild about Orchids” was the theme for the 19th
AOC. The event was held at Crown Perth (formerly Burswood Entertainment
Complex), a first class centre with all the facilities that once could wish for
in the vibrant city of Perth. The timing of the show also coincides with the
start of spring and welcoming the arrival of wild flowers.
The main ballrooms and associated foyer areas were brightened with the display of orchids, floral art, Ikebana and photos for the 19th
AOC (Australian Orchid Council) Conference and Show.
The event is held every three years and it is rotated among the
various states of Australia. The national exhibition showcases colorful orchids
as well as gardening equipment and growing materials. The exciting event was boosted with
outstanding speakers to excite both the new and the most experienced growers.
The Grand Champion of the Show was awarded to Lycaste Abou
Sunset Abou. This hybrid was
registered in 2008. This plant also won the Best Miscellaneous hybrid and
