OSSEA Table Display - July 2013

 Phrag lindleyanum.
 A  species that was described by John Lindley for which he named the plant Phrag lindeleyanum.

Phrag Tall Tails. 
A primary hybrid between  Phrag caudatum and Phrag walliisii registered in 1999. Two flowers on one inflorescence, sepals and petals ivory overlaid with yellow-green. Sepals striated chartreuse, petals overlaid bronze. Pouch light mauve, rim green and interior spotted maroon.

 Phrag Hanne Popow.
One of the most awarded primary hybrid between Phrag besseae and schlimii that was registered in 1991.Two flowers on a single inflorescence. Dorsal sepal and petals coral pink Pouch coral pink, rim and windows cream colour. Staminode light yellow partially blushed with light brown.

 Paph superbiens.
Flowers of this Sumatran species tend to have large triangular pouches of dull matte purple colour. The triangular dorsal sepal has  fine greenish longitudinal veins and purple smudge at the central base of the dorsal sepal. Dorsal sepal slightly hooded. Purple twisted petals marked with raised purple warts. This species usually bear  single flower. Another variety of this species is var. curtisii which has shorter petals, larger pouch and wider at the mouth.

 Paph Lynleigh Koopowitz.
 A primary hybrid between Paph delenatii and malipoense registered in 1991. Single flower sepal ivory with faint pink venation and green flushing at the edge. Petals light cream, tessellated magenta over half the surface. Lips white, central white staminode with deep raspberry.

 Miltoniopsis Mary Sugiyama.
Over 15 large flowers from 4 inflorescences. Flowers paper white, sepals centrally magenta, petals overlaid magenta nearly to margins. Magenta water fall pattern flow from the lips.

 Phal hieroglyphica.
Ten flowers   from two inflorescence (photo shows one of them).  Base colour white, sepals lightly flushed with yellowish green, markings deep red purple. Lip white and flushed with light purple.

Dendrobium delacourii.
A species that is widespread in Southeast Asia.   Fifteen  flowers on two inflorescences; sepals and petals creamy yellow-green; lip ocher yellow, the outstanding feature; flowers well presented.

Restrepia trichoglossa.
A cool growing plants that are found at an elevation of 1600 to 2000 metres.  A  widespread  distribution and can be found in  Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, and Panama. Four flowers and 2 buds; flowers pale yellow over laid with rust red striations, becoming intense basally; dorsal sepal translucent with rust red mid line; petals minute; lip burnt orange; column white;

Bulbophyllum lobbii.
Widespread throughout southeast Asia. The habitat extends southward from Assam, India, Burma, and Thailand, through the Malay Peninsula to the islands of Borneo, Sumatra, and Java. Plants grow at elevations of  750 to 12000 meters. They also occur in the Philippines.Two flowers and one bud on three inflorescences; flowers light crimson colored; dorsal sepal overlaid light orange, lateral sepals solidly overlaid burgundy basally, petals striped burgundy; lip dark mahogany, margins cream-color;

Vanda insignis.
A warm growing Vanda that requires bright indirect light conditions.  Nine flowers on a single inflorescences; sepals and petals pale gold heavily spotted mahogany, coalesced to solid mahogany at margins. Lip mid lobe spatulate, rose-pink, lateral lobes white; column white. A solid coloured plant and pleasantly fragrant.

Staurochilus agusanensis.
A vandaceous species that is found at Augusan Valley of Mindanao in the Philippines from which the plant was named. Close to 30 flowers; buds plump ovals with lip base protruding from the side; flowers stiff, heavily textured, dull yellow with large red-brown spots. Lips fascinating in its structure with lateral lobes forming a wide basin in the center of which the yellow callus.

Neostylis Lou Sneary (Neof. falcata x Rhy coelestis).
Full, compact and  well-balanced plant, 30cm in diameter, supported 10 inflorescences with approximately 100 flowers and buds evenly distributed among several well-developed growths, average leaf spread 20 cm, grown in a 20 cm drift wood; delicate sepals and petals pale amethyst, shaded to greater saturation at outer tips. lips lightly shaded, column deep violet and darker on mid-lobe.

Aspasia silvana.
A cool growing orchid that is found in the states several states of Brazil where it grows in                  mountainous rain or cloud forest in the coastal mountains. Two flowers from 2 inflorescence. Sepals and petals light green overlaid with dark brown. White lips with yellow  followed by purple radiating from the staminode.

Bulbophyllum tricornoides.
This epiphytic species is endemic to Thailand and occurs around 1200 to 1290 meters. Over twenty  flowers and 46 buds on a single inflorescences. The flowers are arranged around dense raceme; sepals dull mahogany; petals ivory; column with long side wing.

Brassavola subulifolia.
A warm growing from West Indies that love bright indirect light to partial sun conditions. Sixteen flowers from three inflorescences on an exceptionally well-grown plant 40 cm tall by 30 cm. Sepals and petals lemon green; lip white and green basally.

 Angraecum scottianum.
 It grows epiphytically on the trunks and lower branches of large trees, often with other epiphytes. 1 inflorescence with 2 flowers. Flowers carried on a pendulous inflorescence. Sepals, petals and lip pure white; very long spur white fading to a pale creamy yellow at the tip.
