December 2011 - Paph Mint Chocolate.

Paph Mint Chocolate:
A primary hybrid made by Terry Root of Orchid Zone and registered in 1994. This is a cross between a Parvisepalum (malipoense) and Brachypetalum (godefroyae). The flower has the features from both the parents. Leaves and flower colour very much like godefroyae while the petals, sepal and pouch more towards malipoense.
Fairly large flower with a NS of 10 cm across. A relatively to grow hybrid which could be attributed to one of its parents - Paph godefroyae. It does not take very long from bud to flower as compared to Paph malipoense which could take months for the flower to develop fully.
