December 2011 - Paph Kiryu

Paph Kiryu - Paph (godefroyae x armeniacum):
A primary hybrid made by H. Kiryu and registered in 1989. This is a cross between a Parvisepalum (armeniacum) and Brachypetalum (godefroyae). Small purple spots over yellow base. The flower and leaves take after armeniacum (yellow and small leaves). The leaf span is about 80 mm long and NS of the flower is 85 mm across. When you compare the leaves against the size of the flower, it is considered a large flowering hybrid.
A relatively easy to grow hybrid which could be grown in our warm tropical weather and does not require any air conditioning. Paph armeniacum requires a much cooler temperature for it to flower here.
