Coryanthes [Crths.] verrucolineata

Origin/habitat: Peru. Plants are found in the Department of Loreto near Iquitos. They grow on trees in moist, tropical lowland forest.

The common name is “The Coryanthes with a line of Small Warts”. Refer to photos #1, #5 and 6 for the two lines of warts on the sepals.

Flower: Produces an average of 2 flowers per inflorescence and a natural of spread of 10 cm. It has purplish hypochile and hair plaits.

Growing conditions:
·       Media – well drained potting mix of pine bark and top up with sphagnum moss to keep the mix moist.
·       Light - filtered, fairly shaded or diffused light (Indirect or morning sun).
·       Watering- keep moist during their active growth.
·       Humidity - fairly high with good air circulation. Temperature- 24 to 33 degrees C.
·       Fertilizer – weekly but weakly at about ¼ strength.
·       Pest and Diseases – leaves susceptible to rot if they are kept too wet.
