This is part 2 for May 2011. In this post I shall show two hybrids.
Paph Benkei:
A hybrid that was registered in 2004 from a cross between Paph godefroyae and S.Gratrix. It could easily be mistaken to be godefroyae. Round flower with burgundy streak and dots over cream base. I reckon this clone should be around 60% S..Gratrix and 40% of it from godefroyae. The shape is strongly influenced by S.Gratrix. The NS and DS are 66 and 40 mm respectively.
Paph Yang-Ji Apple:
This is a primary hybrid between two multi florals. Yang-Ji Apple is a relatively new primary cross between Paph. anitum and Paph. philippinense. Dark flowers, with an almost black dorsal and dark maroon petals. The flower can be very variable and can take the form of either parent. However, the dark dorsal of anitum is generally dominant in most of the crossings with anitum.
This clone has 3 flowers. The length of the petal is 19 cm long, DS is 52 mm and petal is 10 mm across.

May 2011
Folks,
These are the first sets of flowers for May to share.
Paph godefroyae fma leucochilum 157-3
This is the second bloom. Dark burgundy tessellation/markings over light cream base, clear spotless pouch and well balance between the dorsal and petals. The NS and DS measure 80 and 52 mm respectively.
Paph godefroyae fma leucochilum 5009-7.
Almost complete marking across the whole flower. Fairly large flower with burgundy streaking markings over light cream base and clear pouch. The NS and DS measure 84 and 46 mm respectively.
Paph godefroyae fma leucochilum AP68-2.
This is the second bloom that flowered in 26 months. A very wide "roof" (dorsal sepal) with marking across the whole round flower. Burgundy streaking markings over light cream base The NS and DS measure 60 and 50 mm respectively.
Paph godefroyae fma leucochilum 392-3.
This is the third plant to bloom that flowered in 26 months. Burgundy streaking markings over light yellow base. A rather disappointed bloom despite of the nice parents. The NS and DS measure 55 and 38 mm respectively.
Paph godefroyae fma leucochilum 136-2.
Flowers from this crossing produce nice round and balanced shape. An average flower with burgundy streaking markings over light cream base and clear pouch. The NS and DS measure 58 and 36 mm respectively.
